Figs Through the Ages
Figs have been cultivated for millennia, dating back to ancient civilizations in the Mediterranean and Middle East. They were considered a sacred fruit in many cultures, symbolizing abundance, fertility, and prosperity. In ancient Egypt, figs were a staple food and even used in the mummification process! In Greek mythology, figs were a gift from the gods, and they were a favorite fruit of the Roman emperors.
